Questions

Pantry design questions, answered plainly.

About pantry types, shelving, doors, cost, timeline, organization and repair.

Getting started

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The home visit and the written estimate are free and come with no obligation. You approve a written scope and price before any work begins.

What areas do you serve?

Nashville and communities across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and more. See the service areas page for the full list.

Do I need a big space for a pantry?

No. A reach-in closet, a pull-out cabinet or a corner can work very well when it is planned carefully. We look at what you have and suggest the best fit.

What services do you offer?

Design and planning, pantry installation, shelving and organizers, doors, lighting and finishes, organization systems, repair and remodel, and commercial work.

Types and layout

What is the difference between a walk-in and a reach-in pantry?

A walk-in is a small room you step into. A reach-in is a closet or cabinet you open and reach into. Walk-ins hold more, and reach-ins fit tighter spaces.

Can you turn a closet into a pantry?

Often yes. We check that the closet is dry, away from heat and deep enough, then add shelving, lighting and a better door.

What is a butler pantry?

A butler pantry sits between the kitchen and dining room and holds serving pieces, linens and small appliances, often with a counter and sometimes a sink or beverage fridge.

How deep should pantry shelves be?

Twelve to sixteen inches suits most items. Deeper shelves work low for bulk goods, and shallower shelves keep items visible.

Cost and timeline

What drives the cost of a pantry?

The size, shelving material, drawers and pull-outs, door style, lighting, finishes and the work around the pantry such as paint, trim and electrical.

How long does a project take?

Simple shelving can be done in a day or two. Custom builds take longer, with time for materials to arrive. We give you a schedule with the estimate.

How do I compare bids?

Ask each installer to price the same layout, materials, hardware and finishes. Our bid scorecard helps you compare scope, references and communication.

Installation and materials

Which shelving material is best?

It depends on use and budget. Wire is economical and ventilated, melamine is smooth and durable, plywood looks refined and solid wood is warm and repairable.

Can you install cabinets or doors I bought?

Yes. We install customer-supplied cabinets and doors with the same care as ones we supply.

Will my kitchen be unusable?

Usually not. We protect the work area and plan so you can use the kitchen most of the time.

Repairs and organization

Can sagging shelves be repaired?

Often yes. We anchor brackets into studs, add supports and replace weak boards.

Can you organize my existing pantry?

Yes. We offer decluttering and reorganization visits with zones, containers and labels.

How do I keep pests out of my pantry?

Sealed containers, clean joints, tight doors and sealed gaps help. For an active infestation, a pest control professional should treat it.
